Description | Diethylene Glycol is a by-product in the manufacture of Monoethylene glycol produced by EO hydrolysis. Diethylene glycol is a colourless liquid with a high boiling point. DEG is practically odourless and sweetish to taste. It is considerably hygroscopic in nature. DEG is miscible with water, alcohol, ether, acetone but is insoluble in benzene and carbon tetrachloride. DEG can be transported in Epoxy coated MS tankers. It can be stored in MS containers lined with baked phenolic resin / air drying epoxy phenolic resin or vinyl resin.
