Other Functional Finishing Agents
In addition to the most commonly used series of softeners, water- and oil-repellent finishes, antistatic agents and anti-ultraviolet agents, Alfa Chemistry also offers many other functional finishing agents, including but not limited to antibacterial finishing agents, flame retardant finishing agents, anti-slip agents, etc.
Typical Products
- Antibacterial Finishing Agent
Antibacterial agents currently used mainly include metal compounds (especially copper and silver particles), chitosan, halophenol "triclosan", quaternary ammonium compounds (QAC), polyhexamethylene biguanide (PHMB) and N-halamines. The figure below shows several conventional reagents for antibacterial finishing of fibers for reference. [1]
- Flame Retardant Finishing Agent
The flame retardant ability of fiber materials is one of the properties that has received wide attention. In general, textile fibers are very low in flame retardancy and therefore require further chemical treatment to impart flame retardancy. With the development of flame retardant technology and fiber technology, a variety of flame retardants have been successfully used in different fiber substrates. For example, phosphorus-based flame retardants, halogen-based flame retardants, boron-based flame retardants, and so on.
- Lubricant
Lubricants can effectively reduce the friction coefficient of fibers, giving the finishing products excellent smooth and soft effect. Typical products include organosilicon compounds. - Multifunctional Finishing Agent
Sometimes a single-functional finishing agent does not meet the ideal needs, and a multi-functional finishing agent becomes one of the candidates, for example, the combination of hydrophilicity and easy soil release, the combination of resilience and slip resistance, and the combination of flame retardancy and antibacterial properties. A. El-Shafei et al. formulated an environmentally friendly finishing agent with TiO2 nanoparticles and chitosan phosphate, which can be used to improve the flame retardant and antibacterial properties.
