Fiber Biocompatibility Analysis

Biocompatibility refers to the ability of biological materials to interact and function with the host. For fiber materials used in the biomedical field, the first property to be concerned about is biocompatibility. Alfa Chemistry provides biocompatibility analysis and testing services for fiber materials. Our fiber analysis laboratory has a strong technical infrastructure and a team of well-trained and experienced experts.

Optional Service Items

Optional Service Items

When fibrous materials are used as biomedical materials, they must meet specific performance requirements, especially biocompatibility. Biological materials are foreign to the host, and there must be some kind of response or rejection in the body. Therefore, it is necessary to carry out biosafety evaluation of biological materials to ensure that the materials are accepted by the host and do not produce harmful effects. Combining extensive analytical experience, advanced technology, and interdisciplinary expertise, our team provides systematic, accurate biocompatibility analysis services for fiber materials, as well as detailed analytical results and reports. For non-animal experiments, our optional services include but are not limited to the following:

  • Cytotoxicity Analysis
The in vitro cytotoxicity test has the characteristics of universality and can be widely used in the evaluation of various materials. It is detected whether the material of the sample causes cell damage, cell growth, changes in cell metabolism, or even death.
  • Sensitization Analysis
The sensitization test assesses the potential risk of an allergic reaction to a test sample.
  • Skin Irritation Analysis
The irritancy of the test samples and their specific components was assessed by an epidermal model-based skin irritation in vitro test.
  • Mucosal Irritation Analysis
The chick chorioallantoic membrane (CAM) model is used as an alternative to animal models. The CAM assay has been widely used to perform several toxicology studies, particularly to evaluate skin, ocular and embryo toxicity of the tested samples.
  • Others
The above lists only a few common biocompatibility analysis items. If you have other analytical testing needs, please contact us to discuss your specific needs.

Common Test Standards

The main standard for biocompatibility testing is the ISO 10993 standard. Recognized standard methods for in vitro testing include, but are not limited to, ISO 10993-18, ISO 10993-5, ISO 10993-10, and ISO 10993-23.

Research Information

As a leading supplier and service provider of fiber materials, Alfa Chemistry continues to pay attention to the research and progress of fiber material analysis technology to promote our own innovation and progress. In a study, Qing Gao et al. comprehensively analyzed the prepared 3D fibrous scaffolds through a variety of analytical methods, including cell proliferation analysis, cell viability analysis, and cell morphology analysis. The biocompatibility analysis results are shown in the figure below.
