Structure
Description PTFE only consists of carbon and flourine atoms which makes it highly inert due to the strong bonds of flourocarbons. Furthermore, PTFE has one of the lowest coefficient of friction, has a LOI of over 95 and can be applied in a wide range of continuous operating temperature (-200°C up to 250°C). Those characteristics enable PTFE to be used as a coating in for example cookware or medical applications.
Synonyms Poly(tetrafluoroethylene)
Melting Point 327°C
Application Needlefelt: automotive, bearing replacement, hot gas filtration and release fabrics.
Woven fabrics: conveyor belts, mechanical rubber goods, gasket tape.
Wet-laid nonwoven: battery separators, heat shields, liquid filtration.
Sewing threads & monofilaments: membranes, filtration.
Cut Length 36mm up tp 72mm
Elongation 0.25
Feature PTFE offers a unique blend of chemical and temperature resistance, coupled with a low friction coefficient. PTFE is virtually chemically inert, and is able to withstand exposure to extremely harsh environments. The coefficient of friction for PTFE, the lowest of all fibers, makes the fiber suitable for a wide range of applications such as bearing replacement material and release material when stickiness is a concern.
LOI 95
Notes only available as a blend with PA, PET, LCP or Aramid
Specification from dtex 2.8 up to dtex 7.7
Tenacity abt. 20 cN/tex
Thermal Resist operating temperature: 260°C
