Description | OPAN fibers don’t melt, burn or shrink and therefore provide outstanding protection against direct flame. The fiber is inherently flame resistant and self-extinguishing due to it is high LOI. We use different post industrial and post consumer textile materials such as felts and filament residues to mechanically regain a fiber with a decent cut length. Our fibers can be used as a blend item for classical textile nonwoven and spinning applications. |
Synonyms | oxidized PAN fiber |
Application | Automotive, Textile, Construction, Industrial, PPE/Apparel, Public Transportation, Thermal Insulation, Composites |
Form | Recycled Fiber |
Notes | To produce OPAN (oxidized PAN), PAN is first stabilized and thermally oxidized in air at 230 ° C. The material represents an “intermediate product” of PAN and carbon fibers and is already black. With an LOI of 45, the material can be used wherever effective protection against fire or heat is required. |
